A Song, Grape Bubble Gum, and Dresses from a Thrift Store

A purer simpler poem...I love its innocence. Enjoy...

SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!

Went the three-thrift store dresses on bare scraped knees and invisible breeze.

PLOP! PLOP! PLOP!

Went three little girls two of curl on the weathered green bench.

CHOMP! CHOMP! CHOMP!

Went the grape bubble gum between teeth and tongue.

SPLAT! SPLAT! SPLAT!

Went the grape gum goo on freckled white noses and smudged chubby cheeks.

HA! HA! HA!

Laughter filled the thick summer air, while tiny round fingers danced on purple faces and each other's hair.

PLAA! PLAA! PLAA!

Gum with no flavor is no longer any fun.

LA! LA! LA!
Three little girls sing a song, while pudgy legs dance in thick air...

With a song in their heart, grape gum in their mouth, and three-thrift store dresses nestled in their character.

They are free.

(dedicated to my sisters-Meredith and Michelle)

About Me

My photo
I'm a Christian who loves Christ with all her heart. I love to laugh, I love to cry (sometimes), I love to feel deeply. I want the road bendy & the windows rolled down. I want all the wick & wax gone. I want to live with reckless abandon. I want to have deep, authentic intimacy with others. My hope and prayer is that I will effect & be effected. This journey is my own!
